Pisanthrophobia

Pisanthrophobia

A Poem by danalyn

Such delicate feet

On delicate glass

Hearts whose beats tears

My eyes with blood

Dancing and drumming

Against my head and its voices

Waking me in the dark night

That drumming ache

To reach across

This vast expanse of cotton and soft

To find another beating heart

Warm, bleeding against me

Yet it felt as if my arm

Would stretch forever and ever

To find someone to be here

With me, never

I felt this ache before

I danced to this song

And sang its notes

Prickled the glass that is my heart

And patched the little fissures

Stretching alongside

Every curve and plane

Little gaps of loneliness

Bandages and patches

Pink wraps and moving cars

Can never take back what was

Stolen

I fear to prowl

To excite

To feel beyond, this ache

Beyond you

I fear to leave you,

And this partnership behind

To feel my heart pump again

Its fissures widening
