A Poem by danalyn

No parent
Ever looks into the eye of their child
With so much vitriol
With so much hate
And so much disappointment
Without meaning it

No parent
Calls their child a disgrace
A worthless piece of bullshit
A regretful thing of creation
Without meaning it

No parent asks you to sorry afterwards
Asks you to kiss them and
To move on
Without meaning the things
That just pierced your entire soul

No child can move on
From such a thing
From the jagged scratches
Such words left in her heart

With doubt and dangerous ideas
Of running away, of blood,
Swirling and mixing with the salty remains
Of tears

No child can move on,
Despite promises of progress
That she had become a better person
And so she is stuck in that never changing moment
Where he stares and screams, and she wonders
What is the point of continuing after.
