On the bed, on the chair

On the bed, on the chair

A Poem by danalyn

As my heart darts fervently
Crawling through the three feet between us
Between your crowding bodies, limbs intertwined
Yet I, left lonely on an empty isle
Left surrounded by an emptiness profound
That my feet dangle along the edges
Blurred by tears and heads heavy

I feel my hands tender, bruised
Finger pads left alone, excluded
And my veins beating away the want for
You

The noise and the chatter fill the room
Of the noises humans could make
That connections could make
Yet I couldn't bear to open up and contribute
Muted before birth and still after severance

I fell in love and felt resentment
I long for you in entirety
Yet flinch at the thought of your touch

So I remain in the same room, yet sit apart
A far three feet away
And it doesn't feel enough
