again...

again...

A Poem by Jane Olivia Davis
"

for this moment right now...

"

with a rustling and shuffle

doors open

doors close

smallish feet that sweep across the hardwood floors

i hear every crack and snap as they make their way to me

doors open

doors barely closed...

i hear the rush of the water

and the swish

            swish

            swish

i smile to myself as i lie here waiting

knowing that for most certain

she is using my toothbrush again

I love the movement of this poem. This poem perfectly captures what is happening, and unlike most poems, isn't over-the-top in expressing action. This simple observation is masterfully reworked into art. I really love this poem. I admire the spacing and calm, realistic voice behind it. I'm jealous.

Okay,I don't understand this poem. 'knowing for most certain that she is using my toothbrush again' ends it but doesn't make sence

Once seen by example, oftenbecomes habit; some good, as described with a small smile in this piece, (others not so much).

I swear I laugh out loud every time I read this. Your toothbrush poem is better than mine!

I enjoyed 'smallish feet' as i cld see, sense them. And toothbrushes are just such intimate objects. We put them inside us. They throb with our DNA.
