Crystal Clear

Crystal Clear

A Poem by Stephanie Allen
"

It should be crystal clear now.

"

I can see it in your eyes, dear
The scorn and disbelief
When I tell you I'm packing up and leaving
And I'm getting my way at last

You won't believe me when I tell you
And probably not after I'm gone
But one day I'll make you see
And it'll be much too clear

[Chorus]
Is it crystal clear now, dear
Or should I run it by again?
I've tried to make you see
But I realize now you're blind

You won't see me looking back
Though that old rearview mirror
Instead I'll be looking straight ahead
At the horizon stretched before me

Don't you bother to call me, honey
Because I won't pick up the phone
Just leave a message, begging forgiveness
But I won't say what you want to hear

[Chorus]

If you're lucky you'll get a kiss goodbye
But I probably wouldn't count on it
Just the way you counted me out
Before I turned my back on you

[Chorus]

About
I'm an 18-year-old college freshman trying to figure out how I ended up being so liberal in a family of...well, not liberals. Perhaps the fact that I spent my formative years in Seattle has something.. more..
