A Poem by Danielle Calhoun

BIRTHDAY THOUGHTS

Danielle and Johnathan: May 12, 2007
Danielle and Johnathan: May 12, 2007

I made a wish when I blew out the candles
And when I woke my prayer had been answered

I not only have a very blessed life
God helped me to see the reason I am alive

It’s not for my family or for me
It is for you and whatever else may come

You came to me this morning
And gave me a hug

Then you started feeling ill
You needed a hug

I did get frustrated and I still want to cry
But God made me realize the wonders in my life

The wish that I made was for a clear mind

Too bad it took this long
To realize it this time

My wish had been granted such a long time ago
My wish for a family of mine all my own

A positive and true poem of life. Children give us reason and purpose to be alive. Thank you for the excellent poem. Good to see and read your poetry again.
