Communion

Communion

A Poem by Danielle Calhoun

COMMUNION

We broke the bread and drank the wine
We felt his presence and praised his life
We saw his sightings and prayed for peace

So why is now that we do not seek
The very thing that we pray for

From across the valleys and oceans more
People are dying and we dare not help
Even if they are in our own societies

We rely on the government
But it makes me believe

That those religious enough to pray
Don’t seem to realize that we are not brave

For when we see a homeless on the street
We march and we protest

But we do not seek

The very thing that they need most
The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost

They have left us

Hoping we’d change
But this world is full
Of meaningless rage

The rage is not meaningless. Jesus told the world. A blessed man love and protect the children. Today more concern for wealth and the rich. Jesus went into a temple and tossed out the money lenders in the bible. Maybe we need him today? We must stop allowing the 1% to control the USA. Must bring the soldiers home. We must insure all children have a bed to sleep and food to eat. I believe Jesus is heart-broken for what he see the pain and suffering of this world. I don't believe in violence. But we need the good and kind people to take control and lead us back to love and common sense. Before it is too late for all the children. Thank you for the powerful poem. It is time for a 100 million person walk. Time for peace and healing.
