Acrostic

Acrostic

A Poem by Shadenfräu
"

I haven't written an acrostic in a long time, and this is what came out of me when I made such an attempt earlier this afternoon.

"

Juxtaposed flesh join in an ethereal reading of several unfinished letters

Ardent aphorisms between the flesh dance feverishly in words that do not matter

Silent seraphs pantomime history as the brightest star begins to chatter

Of the once upon a times, when Eden and Babel fall but Jacob climbs his ladder

Neath God’s green earth a sodden Narcissus preens before hitting hell with a splatter

When Herostratus burns anathemas he curses loudly, the opalescent Athena

Interrupting the lilted slumber of Daedalus, the impossible dreamer

Long dead limbs clamor at hell’s gate reaching out for a redeemer

Lies and mythos muddle the livings search for pastures much greener

Impotent idols wither and fade on many an indecisive schema

All fated to ash, only immortalized in prose elaborating a wish to be freer

Muted seraphs mourn the everyman’s plight of wanting a different meaning

Kindling just within reach, the knotted nakedness absorbs the old words of portentous dread

In the past lives that burn bright within letters symbolically inked in red

Reality, still unfinished, momentarily abandoned by two sleeping heads

Blight no longer an option, the star whispers upon the union lying on an endless bed

Young lovers flourish from the broken dreams and myths of men long since dead
