Lost in the Forest of Life

Lost in the Forest of Life

A Poem by Aldora Sparrow
"

A religious poem describing the finding of Jesus again. I hope I didn't offend anyone

"

“Want to go to place where the fruit are aplenty and the golden flowers grow?”
You just smiled and replied, “Let us go.”
So we went, baskets swinging
     And voices laughing and singing.
We came to the forest’s edge
Trees towering everywhere and flowers on every ledge.
I went to the sweet peaches and pears
While you went to the fruits not so fair
But I wandered a little too far
I was lost in the darkness, without light or even a star.
I wandered blindly, calling out
But all I heard were the echoes of my shouts
I bumped into many rocks and trees
I just couldn’t find or see
As the chilling winds began to blow
My running footsteps began to slow
Tears streaming, scared and cold
Yearning for someone to hold
Then I heard your footsteps, swift and sure
The darkness faded away from Your shining light, so pure
You found me
You embraced me, shedding tears to fill a sea
You led me out of the shade
Never ceasing to fade.
Back home we went towards the light
Never again letting me out of Your sight.
Jesus, You found me
You led me out of the dark when I couldn’t see
Never letting me go
My gratitude isn’t enough to show
I am walking with you, every step of the way
Into the folds of destiny, shining gray
I will stay with you
Never stopping until we reach the skies of blue
The palace of God

Great job! I love the picture this paints. Your rhyming is superb. The only thing is at the beginning you say “Want to go to place where..." instead of "a place". And it might be a good idea to say "Do you want.." because when I first began reading, it took a couple of seconds to understand what you were trying to say. Beautiful poem. I love your work!

Sorry about the off-line "and voices laughing." I can't change it, so sorry again.
