Heartbreakers Game

Heartbreakers Game

A Poem by Darrin Reay
"

So I wrote this song after breaking up with my girlfriend. She lead me on, told me we could still be together but she still ended up hurting me. I hope you enjoy it!

"
I was lead to believe that after a storm,
A beautiful sunrise will follow,
That after the pain the good times will come,
And I’ll look forward to tomorrow,
But I can’t cause I’m hanging onto the past,
And thinking about all of our good times,
When we would laugh and have a blast.
I need to get away,
I need to go (oh whoa),
I need to get away,
I need to go (oh whoa).
I knew that it wouldn't be all rainbows and butterflies,
I knew it’d be full of hurt, arguments and goodbye’s,
But I’m a fool to think that you’d ever change,
Because you’re playing me in a heart breakers game,
You said that I was the one for you,
You whispered into my ear ‘I love you’,
Now I’m the fool who thought that you would change,
Now that you’re playing me in a heart breakers game.
I was lead to believe that happiness would take over,
And all of my good times would come,
That the hurt in my heart would disappear,
And it would all finally be gone,
But it won’t cause I’m hanging onto the past,
I’m thinking about all of our good times,
When we would laugh and have a blast.
I dreamt a dream last night,
That you came back to me,
You flew me in the air,
So you could be with me,
I closed my eyes as tears began to stream,
I opened them up again, it was just a dream.
I was lead to believe that after a storm,
A beautiful sunrise would follow.
And I need to get away,
I need to go (oh whoa).
