Silence

Silence

A Poem by Not here

Do we need to stop this?

Can we stay

Do we need to torture ourselves

Today?

Why can't it wait?

Why can't you?

There's so much time

And nothing to do.

You know we have to stop this.

You know we have to stop this

Okay

You know we have to stop this

Someday

You know we have to quit

But can it wait

You know we have to end it

One way

You know we have to stop this

If there was a reason to stay

We would've found it yesterday

If there was a choice we would've chose

Instead we're lost, where are our clothes?

Maybe we can wait until tomorrow

Maybe when we aren't so full of sorrow

Or we could just see if there's a sign

The best things in life are left behind

You know we have to stop this

You know we have to stop

One way

You know we have to stop this

You know we have to stop

One of these days

You call yourself a judge

And I'm the fool

When we did agree

To be so cruel

You make yourself a throne

And I'm the floor

All your golden capes

Hard to ignore

Wow. As usual, good work. You portrayed not only a difficult situation, but the hardship that lies in dealing with it. I loved how, in the beginning, the person is more questioning and the tone is uncertain and how that evolves into becoming certain by stating instead of asking.

The second half hope creeps back into the situation, saying that 'Maybe we can wait until tomorrow', as if hoping that things would have been solved or a solution found by then. By using we you manages to put the characters in this relationship on equal standing, while in the last paragraph unravels that and explains why this relationship is so toxic.
Great work :)
