Flat Out

Flat Out

A Poem by David P. Eckert
"

Some wanderings of my mind

"

Flat Out

Ready to run flat out

Like my life is on fire

Like I’ve never heard

Of stop, drop and roll

Like running is my answer

Running out the door

Running from fire

Running to fire

From my frying pan

Like running is all I know

In fifty-seven

Heinz variety years

Like if there’s a run

There’s a way

Running out

Running Over

Running Through

Stock underflowing

Every shelf on every store

I’m running from nothing

Running for nothing

Running to say nothing

Running flat out

Thanks for the comments. Maybe I ran empty, or maybe all the running was for nothing, had no substance all along, like running as a way of stopping long enough to think.

Seems as I read this verse...
like you say in your statement above...
the mind set was on full throttle...
and you just went for it...
until you ran empty...
