When Apples Fall to Earth

When Apples Fall to Earth

A Poem by David P. Eckert
"

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree redux or not

"

When apples fall to earth
near the base of momma tree
does she have grand expectations
for her seeded progeny?

When she sees them growing true
does she worry where they've been?
Does she rustle out a "heads up"
when the mower heads towards them?

And if they're growing gnarled
limbs twisting in each gale
does she fret their lack of progress
of fear that she has failed?

Though apple seeds may fall nearby
or float with whimsy wind
the tree who gave them to the world
won't take them home again.

of course, not, they don't worry about anything, they just ARE. :) They don't want anything better or worse, they just are. Perhaps, ,they want to be eaten, this way they might make sure that they survived, a year more?
