Rewording

Rewording

A Poem by David P. Eckert
"

Changes after a death

"

Rewording

Visiting mom’s house, (not Mom and

Dad’s). His Suzuki wagon will

be Jocelyn’s car, but the smell

of his tobacco tin will still

be his, and so many gadgets

and his clearly marked bins and files

are none other’s. Yet it will be.

Rewording has sadly begun.

We all leave such simple yet profound pieces of ourselves behind for those that loved us to feel the memories over and over. This was heartfelt and a touching write.

ah, the arbitrary nature of labels and how far-reaching their significance has become in our lives. this is a deceptively simple write where simplicity really means subtlety. great.

Ahhhh.... And then there is the sad pony, yet wild for your avi... Yes, I know what you are saying. Before Kandee died it was we, no it's just me. Before our parents would call out "Girls" Now, it's just Kristy. I can still smell her... I see her in my mind... as I am sure this is what you do with your father. Hold him... he is there. Very touching emotional poem, without really too much. You had the hammer and nail... and just said it.
