Lazuline Pearls

Lazuline Pearls

A Poem by David W Moore III

Previous Version
This is a previous version of Lazuline Pearls.

Just when the first note begins,
obsidian cowl nods.
Infinite reflection
reveals nothing:
no river of carmine
no effervescent brook
no dialating candescence
no opus magnum
just a note
echoing hauntingly.

Oh sing a song!
Sing a song never begun.
Only the echo remains.

Lazuline pearls resile,
bounce and return.
The vacuum resonates
Reverberates
searching
longing
yearning
instruments at hand,
trembling slightly.

Oh sing a song!
Sing a song never begun.
Only the echo remains.

The chromic rale
ursula tamed
waiting
anticipating
humming
thrumming
the void tugging
pulling to be filled.

Oh sing a song!
Sing a song never begun.
Only the echo remains.
Rejoined by the cosmic choir.
The echo remains
echo remains
remains.

evocative of something in and on a grand scale...and yet with such descriptives as nothing echoe longing vaccuum and void to effectively reflect that something haunts as an absentee...i see the pearls fall...hear their thud thud thud thud upon the floor and sense some deep and eternal sadness in the song that never began...it is a song all the same...creating a sad ambience for which...i suppoose...you were aiming...strong piece...i respect and appreciate its existence...

A lovely poem David, and a great tribute to your son. I love the part about the cosmic choir, its ethereal sounding.

It is very precise…
Your choice of images…
To convey the theme….
A peculiar feeling…threads the entire poem…
Which I cant put into words…
Loved it so much…

the echos of a song never begun, even the cosmos joins in...beautiful and yet so sad...the echos always remain with us.

This is beautiful... There's a deep sorrow and longing.

This sounds like it could be turned into a four part choral piece, I love it. Beautiful tribute to your son.

Elegant, classic, hauntingly elegiac.

"The chromic rale/and ursula tamed/waiting/anticipating/humming/thrumming/the void tugging/pulling to be filled." This was particularly intriguing, the packed arcana in such simple syllables.

The "echo remains" refrain extends the melancholy air into the greater abiding Mystery.

the echoes of a song never begun...yet sung all the same...reverberating in the depths of yearning core...resonating within sapphire shadows of longing...a melody set within despondent tones...carried upon flow of heart that has been sliced and splayed and turned inside out...evocative and lachrymose
