I Am

I Am

A Poem by Donald Cole

Are you lonely?

Or just feel out of place?

What is it your doing there?

Until you see my face

Do you have your love?

What do you turn into?

What is it about this world?

That makes you such a fool?

Did you hear me knocking?

For I can't open that door

Still, your will brought you here

I hope you are wanting more

How can I convince you?

Or do you just believe?

Where is it your trust lies?

When your own eyes do deceive?

These questions I only ask of you

Just my simple prayer

I've only waited forever

For my love with you to share

I Am here for you

As I Am has always been

Even as you wouldn't know

I walked with you even then

Now as you walk upon that place

I watch the fruit you bare

All that come to know My love

So freely given to share

Make your mark and bring to me

All you have inside

I'll bring to you a whole new world

One in which you won't have to hide.
