My Everlasting Dream

My Everlasting Dream

A Poem by Donald Cole
"

A poem of love

"

How can I just pretend

To not love you as I do?

How, with the messages you'd send

Can my heart still not be true?

I've loved you like forever

And seldom would I see

That seldom become never

To have a love as we

You've walked upon my world

And gotten a piece of me

And though obstacles I've hurled

My heart is all but free

My mind the greater evil

It gets the best of me

My feelings never subtle

They just won't let me be

I'd gaze into your eyes

As though it's safe in there

It comes as no surprise

How much I'd love to share

With you in my life every day

And as my world to be

I'll love you in every way

And as far as I can see

For there will be no other

Not so simple as it may seem

Come, take my world over

My everlasting dream.
