Standing on the Edge of Hope

Standing on the Edge of Hope

A Poem by Donald Cole

Standing on the Edge of hope

Still so lost in my way

Still praising you in my heart

Is all I can do for today

Standing on this fence I own

That really isn't mine

I seek the hope amongst a few

Yet it's me they don't find

I find myself in the wilderness

And I'm all but standing alone

For I see no way off my fence

Is all that I've been shown

I've tried to reach a hand now

So few that I would see

And I'm only walking on

Waiting to be set free

And I'm only with me in my world

There's nothing left here to see

I'm standing on the edge of hope

And I'm calling out your name

And I know the choices I am making

I can never stay the same

So I bring to you this heart of mine

There's not too much left of me

Yet still it feels so heavy

I'll pray that You are helping me.

I'll find my way to reach to you

And my world, lost though it may be

I humbly offer you all that I have

Which is only what's left of me

Just help me, to carry me

On my journey through this world today

Lord, take this little offering

Come take my life away

Help me make it through my story

Help me be the man I should

Show me how to live, only in Your glory
