Hold On

Hold On

A Poem by Donald Cole
"

A poem of friendship gone right

"

There isn’t so much left of me
Yet I give it all away
Were it not for the hardened words
That you once did say
To share with you my world
The little that you see
And I’d have given all I could
To be a part of me
I wish you really knew me
And how I’d felt inside
Before you took the part of me
And ran off as you tried
Still I have my love for you
As that goes not away
And you’ll feel me in your world
Were you to look my way?
So I can only be the wind
Blowing through your hair
And I can only be the friend
That you’ll always know is there
For what lies beyond we do not know
And you’ll only get the pieces of me
That you would choose to hold
Yet you’ll have the part of me
The same one of which I’ve told
For love is only mine to give
As its been given to me
And I’ll not offer any thing
That could not come to be
So we may walk this world
With the pieces that we share
And hold this bond between us
Just to know how we care
And I’ll only be as far away
As you’d keep me from your heart
For even a friend is one to share
In all if not a part
And life goes on without us
It only takes a glance
So hold on to today
Don’t let it have that chance
And hold on to your dreams
For they will not slip away
‘Cept were to let them go
To find another day
And you’ll always hear me
If you listen to the wind
For I breathe in the air with you
And I’ll always be your friend.
Always love
Don

A very gentle, loving piece. It is as soft as any I've seen. I hope she listens ....
