Yet

Yet

A Poem by Donald Cole

To bring a smile to you
Does surely make my day
I spend so much time dreaming
I long to find a way
I look at the heart you hold
To see what I may find
And the more I learn about you
It seems the heart you hold is mine
At least some ways about you
As I hold you as a dream
For I realize through what I feel
I won’t have what could have been
So I’m living in the minute
And I reach a little to you
And I hold on to the feelings
Of what you put me through
And I cherish what I get to keep
For I only see me smile
And I feel the warmth I hold inside
You bring to me all the while
And I feel it never fading
So I reach to you some more
And I’ll give another piece of me
Not knowing what’s in store
Yet hanging on somehow
For everything I know
Turns me inside out
For that is how I grow
And I’ll always share the part of me
That will go on without end
For you’ll find it here in my heart
And in your heart, the love I send.
And though we may not ever know
Even though we always will
You’ll find you have a piece of me
That shows I love you still
