Hide and Seek

Hide and Seek

A Poem by devon

Sometimes we lose things.

We lose car keys,

Or phones.

TV remotes, too.

They’re out of sight for a minute,

And then they’re gone;

Until we find them again, that is.

Sometimes, though, we set things down,

Put them away,

Because they’re not important,

Or our hands are too full.

And then one day, we realize

We needed them after all.

But they’re collecting dust

In a corner of an unknowable place,

Or taking up vacancy in a land fill

20 or 5000 miles away.

And they are lost "

Never found, never being replaced.

I never though you would remind me

So much of an old teddy bear

That’s seemed to have gotten up and just

Gone away.

We misplace things all the time. Sometimes we're too lazy to find them. Sometimes we don't even realize they're gone. But when we do, that's when we need them the most. And most of the time we won't find them until we no longer need them.
This is such a true, sort of raw, poem. Great writing! I liked the comparison of losing a person to a physical (for lack of a better word) thing.
