Toothache

Toothache

A Poem by devon

The intended effect was euphoria, but

I felt out of my mind

Floating on waves of careless ecstasy, I was supposed

To not feel the nerves,

A dopey smile supposed to cross my face when the anesthesia

Came, but I spilled tears at the numbness

This is not another lovesick poem, I swear

The wisdom teeth are out

I was thinking about this after having oral surgery today and having the drug that was supposed to relax me not work at all. I still remember the shocked look on the nurse's face when I started hyperventilating and crying out when she gave me the IV. I was supposed to be completely in a state of bliss, but alas, my phobia of needles knows no bounds.
