Game for Keeps

Game for Keeps

A Poem by devon

Love’s nothing but a game to you,

Bet all of your chips on getting screwed,

And she’ll never know, cause a poker face

Makes it easy to hide the truth.

There’s nothing at stake,

She’s only got her heart to lose.

So, go big or go home and roll,

The prize is yours for the breaking.

But didn’t I tell you?

My daddy taught me how to play the game,

And practice makes perfect, or so they say.

So join my ex boyfriends in line.

Watch me the dealing the cards this time.

This game is for keeps,

And baby, I’m on a winning streak.

Hold on, don’t give up just yet.

You’ve still got a chance,

The jackpot’s anyone’s to take.

And in my book, losers never win.
