Gunshot

Flash Fiction

He wakes up to the sound of a gunshot. He sees a man’s body on the bed and a .38 caliber, the index finger still hooked around the trigger.

The door opens. A breathless woman rushes inside. She sobs at the sight.

She reaches for the gun in the man’s hand.

He yells for her to stop, but he’s as mute as the walls. He tries to take the gun away but can’t.

She hugs the man as she points the gun to her head. She whispers. She smiles. She kisses the man before pulling the trigger. She wakes up to the sound of the gunshot.
