If Your Lips Were Wine

If Your Lips Were Wine

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

A friends status gave me the idea for the poem...

"

If your lips were wine

I would savor your sensual flavor,

letting it tease my tongue

until I felt the intoxication

put my heartaches to bed.

I’ve had many bad buzzes

that left me lying in gutters

bleeding from the falls.

It is what I get

for loving the hard liquors,

I just never knew how invigorating

a soft chardonnay could be

still letting me think clearly for myself.

I can take you all in without wanting

to hang my head; instead wanting more.

I know sometimes I can be hard to swallow

but I promise to never choke the essence

that makes you sparkle.

So please kiss me long and slow

cause getting drunk on you

sobers me up to the magic of love.

Nice. I really love that you acknowledged the ease of inspiration, from something as commonplace as a status update.

Thank you.
The subject yearns to change his source of intoxication! And I would say...his is an infinitely better choice!

Loved these lines, full of humor yet sad...

"I’ve had many bad buzzes
that left me lying in gutters
bleeding from the falls.
It is what I get
for loving the hard liquors," - Addiction and it's pitfalls awesomely described! One feels the hard knocks taken by the poet!

A cool and sensual poem! Loved it!

Love can be like wine or alcohol in general. Woman can be like different vintages of wine coming in all flavors and colors. This is a unique way to write about this.

No problem at all:)
Wonderful words of a changing of taste in the women that fill your life. The quick burning shot straight up or the crystal goblet with the wine slowing swirling from the desires set in motion and the slow drunkeness of a sweeter taste and lingering sensations of a new magic potion from the seductress called love. She releases your inner man that desires to please instead of consume.

Thank you very much for the review and detailed review.
what a great paradox in the last two lines...

a woman is a soft wine...we want to sip very slowly.

really like this one.
