Time

just some thoughts in my head

                                                                                                

They say time heals all wounds

yet day after day people

are tormented by past mistakes.

the effects causing lingering reactions

bringing self destruction

and often bitter loneliness.

 

They say time is of the essence

but when all we do is run around

taking care of life’s problems

we forget what’s important

so often losing them and in turn

ourselves in the process.

 

They say time is on our side

and somehow I can’t agree

for all time does is take

those we love away from us

and break us down little by little

as our bodies age.

 

Then when I hear time is fleeting

I can’t believe my ears

because the only thing I can see

is time is the only thing that last forever

so just enjoy the here and now

and let time do its thing.

it takes one day at a time for the healing to happen - we need to take time for ourselves in the busy hub-bub of society...

Time is where we live, our souls are where the depths of experience lie. Yes human beings are intricate and no one is exempt from pain. We can work and forgive and try to 'let go' to heartache. I understand your poem very well. Good example of the reality of life's sometime difficulties and the result.

Time doesn't always heal wounds, sometimes those cuts or even gashes are there for life, my dear friend. Sometimes it can take a lifetime other times it can take someone to help them heal. I sooooo loved this, it is relatable in so many ways and can be interpreted in more ways than one.

This is a profound truth...time is on our side in some small way, but in reality it is completely against us all. And the biggest truth here, is that we all seem to lose ourselves in this same time...forgetting what is the most important thing...love for our fellow humanity and all it encompasses. Excellent piece to ponder on, Dale!

Thoroughly enjoyed it. I agree with all you say, except I feel time is fleeting to us as an individual. Time is an infinite measure in the universal structure of the heavens and earth but to one single human it swiftly passes and try as we might the one bright moment of a day becomes a memory and lovely as they are these happy snipets tend to fade like old photographs. Sounded like I was pretty smart there for a minute. lol
To boil it all down to the bottom of a hot pot---Time is both enemy and friend. Just depends on the situation. Oh gosh my brain is so tired I am going to make like a donkey, stubborn up and sit down till someone whacks me with a---whatever you whack one with.

"And let time do its thing." -- I hate waiting on time. Sometimes I feel like it never comes fast enough! How long must one wait until everything heals? Too long. That's my response. Probably because I'm really upset and this write made me remember it all, but on a positive note it's written really well, Dale. Time does heal, but it's a long process and I'm very impatient.
