The Nightly Ritual

The Nightly Ritual

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

It’s when I close my eyes

When I feel the presence

that can’t be described,

or analyzed.

It illuminates

What will soon be my dreams

Without disturbing the dark.

The Figure leaves

invisible footprints

with grace.

The man in the moon

no longer smiles

because he’s too busy smirking.

Wishing those footprints

would be his.

As the countdown for

the r.e.m. cycle to begin

the man in the moon

becomes hypnotized

and is told to nod

by my subconscious.

and yet you beautifully analyze the ritual in poetic form, our nightly rituals are unique to us all and we all end up in another world of our minds making, ahhh, dreams, another analytical poem to be written.

Did you mean "because he’s too [busy] smirking" here?

I rather like the personification of the onset of dream time.

An interesting prologue, a certain presence to your dream...invisible figures...no face on the moon...yet becomes "part of your conscience...the dream itself, rather dark in mood...yet just a dream...nice!
