Let Freedom Ring

Let Freedom Ring

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Marching on a dime

makes no sense to me

for the right to move forward

should have no price.

I would never give

my thoughts up for a penny

for they are not for sell

they are mine to express at will.

If money is truly

the root of all evil

then let me die

without a dollar to my name…

as the angels sing, “Let freedom ring”.

well actually money is not the root of all evil, I believe it is the LOVE of money that is the root of all evil.

we all have our own interpretations of freedom. let the heart and and soul speak and move freely, without encumberment...especially not by money or the lack thereof. i agree with another review which stated that the love of money was evil...at what price do we define our souls, our love for life and the freedom of expression? this poem is brilliant. kudos!

~ there's a scene in jerry mcguire... in which tom cruise tells cuba gooding jr. that he's not playing with all his heart but like a paycheck player... he says something to the effect that 'you're not thinking about playing well, you're always thinking about which other player got a better deal than you and better ads but when it comes to your family, you're all heart'... and after that, cuba gooding jr. starts playing with all his heart... ~ this brilliant poem reminds me of that brilliant scene... the quality of a life lived for money is very poor... money is important for survival but there's much more to life... those who mourn about money don't really know life closely... they only know it from a distance... which is very sad... my heart goes out to them...

This poem is wonderful.

The awesome lines are:

"I would never give
my thoughts up for a penny
for they are not for sell
they are mine to express at will"

Terrific thoughts and very well written poem Dale.

But I need and like money :(

This is fantastic Dear. I loved it, it is so so true, although I think I may agree with PerlySunflower. Lol. Love may be added into that. Great work.

Money can hold us back and weigh us down. If it becomes our only focus and our only desire then truly alone we will end up. I can think of many things worth more than money: love family children God hope forgiveness. Those things are priceless.
