Asphalt Epitaph

Asphalt Epitaph

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)

Within the calm

       Before the witching hour

A single streetlight

       Casts an epiphany

Upon a lonely shadow

       Liquefying in the wind

The only salvation

       Are dust particles

Weighing it down

       Into the virgin asphalt

Now the pavement

       Becomes the epitaph

With out a written word

       It tells of a soul

That lived with emotions

       Like its surface

And now will spend eternity

       Watching the journey.

Spend Eternity watching the Journey..now these words made me think about life and future..but what is it that I am missing? Your words I love.. and in all these..your soul is all over in this poem.. I like how you flow..
Lovely as your soul.. I wish you the best..

I'm spilling my blood on the pavement ...watching it pool in his heart. My epitaph is to love the world, but it's oh so hard to watch it commit Suicide! Your writing is brilliant as it always is and I am hoping the more I watch the more I will feel inspired:) My blood has turned to dust and I'm blowing across the desert.......

Shadows, streetlights... what a wonderful concept for a poem..
The pavements of life contain our shadows and those of all the others..
Rally a unique and insightful piece. :-)

I know this was not what you were going for, but this poem reminded me of hiroshima: of people's shadows that were permanently trapped in the sidewalk when the blast hit.

You dod a good job of striking a gothic chord with this one. Think Edgar Allen Poe, but with knowledge of the scientific sun. Viva la

I could see this so clearly as I read through it. You've turned something so simple as a shadow at night into a magical, beautiful piece of poetry. So many emotions live in this piece, and I guarantee I will feel them each and every time I read this, no matter how often. This is truly captivating. A brilliant write, from a brilliant writer.
