union lost

union lost

A Poem by dead poet 79

She coughs lightly,
Trying not to wake him up.
But, its too late,
He has been awake all night.
Worried about her.
The doctor said
"It'll be any day now"
He wanted to hear her breath,
Feel her in his arms,
Love her for as long
As the Earth permitted.
"Are you o.k. honey?"
"Yes, dear, Im fine."
They lay in silence,
Neither knowing what to say or do.
The morning came and went.
Both, just staying close to each other.
He made lunch,
As she sat at the kitchen table.
There love unrequited.
He couldnt help but to look at her.
To burn the image of  her
In his brain.
He wanted desperatly to
Remember her laugh,
How she smiled,
Everything about her
He wanted to be with him forever.
That evening came and went.
They lay down in bed that night.
Holding each other tight.
"I love you" she said quietly and slowly.
"I love you too"
No response,
He looked down at her.
She seemed to be asleep.
But, didnt feel her breathing
As the other nights.
"HONEY, WAKE UP!, PLEASE!"
But, there time together was over.
The world had ended there union.
And, now he must start over.
But, how do you get over that love of your life
So easily, so quickly?
