Elvis!

Elvis!

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

Once upon a time

there was a king

who lived upon a hill

In a stately mansion

he did dwell

Sometimes life for him

must have been a living hell

As he looked out his window

passed his iron gates

Into the streets of his home town

Surrounded by the ghetto

Just past his lovely meadow

It must have been so lonely

for this man to see

so much suffering and pain

So he gave as much as he could

he gave us his spirit

he gave us his all

when he gave us

his songs

This is a nice tribute to Elvis. When I was a kid, I used to play his records (45's) and (LP's) and try to dance and sing just like him. My favorites were Blue Christmas, and Jail House Rock.
Thanks for bringing back the memories.
Your friend, Cliff

I am an Elvis fan BIG TIME!!! Good for you, I think he was extremely misunderstood and undermined by minders. I think you have done a lovely tribute to the KING of ROCK N' ROLL...He may have left the building, but not the hearts of his fans and admirers...the man could sing!
Thank you Debileah,
Cheers,
Helen :-)

This is well done. Sums up his spirit and what he was giving and still gives to many people. Going to have to pass this one on to my gf. She'll love it and most likely won't to frame it. :)

This is beautiful! I think Elvis would love it if he could read it. I am a big Elvis fan and this is a wonderful, heartfelt tribute to the man and his music!

As a true Elvis fan I must admit certain bias..but this is a great poem and personal tribute to the life and influence of the man, Elvis. I see his mansion frequently when in Memphis and the sadness surrounding his home continues to grow...as the beauty of those surroundings, outside the metal gates, continues to diminish.

It is a sad town without him there...

Great work!

Daniel
