Captured On Paper

Captured On Paper

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

C aptured on paper in pen and ink

A re the love letters my belated husband wrote to me

P ouring out of emotions and painting a picture with his words

T he letters were written with an unyielding

U rgency in which he begged me to

R econsider the idea of getting a divorce

E nding the marriage we strived so hard to save

D eath came to him before the papers were served

O n a hot August night he died of staff infection from a dirty

N eedle as he suffered terribly from alchohol and heroin addiction

P lainly captured on paper

A re his last and final words

P leading with me not to leave him

E nvelopes addressed "To The One I Love"...

R eading these letters once more I realize how precious life really is

Wow too! I have to agree with Sal. I loved the acrostic, but the potent story written in the poem was powerful and wonderful in all its painfulness and exposure. Loved it!

It is too bad that alchohol and heroin clouded your husband's mind. It is a clear that he loved you, but his addictions were cruelity on his part. His devotion to them stood in the way of his devotion to you. :o(

It is touching to read this, Debileah.

Your life is filled with such sorrow and heartbreak. It's amazing to me that you can still hold the pen. The pen for some is a way to understand the window pane, but for others to explain the emotions within the room. Nice write.
