Divorce

Divorce

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

Stepped out of the mire

Right into the fire

The day I got my divorce

The frying pan was hot

Happy I was not

The day I got my divorce

I was beaten, battered and abused

Just plain tired of being used

The day I got my divorce

My son was molested

My husband should have been arrested

The day I got my divorce

I had a new boyfriend he waited outside

New bruises from him I could not hide

The day I got my divorce

Stepped out of the mire

Right into the fire

The day I got my divorce

The frying pan was hot

Happy I was not

The day I got my divorce

My children were crying

Inside I was dying

The day I got my divorce

Who would have thought that things could get worse

Unless of course I go home in a black hearse

Today I get my divorce

My best friend's parents just got divorced some days before and since I'm very much close to his family, so I can understand what it feels like.
So sad and emotional piece of writing.

Millions and millions of women will say amen to this one.........sadly. Mankind is often far from kind...sadly.

It sounds like you put a lot of heart into this piece. The best thing is that when the reader reads this, they can relate to personal situations. Keep writing!

seems to me death may have been possible when facing the divorce, but certain had you not left when you did... i understand the experience of taking the stand was hard and the reactions you endured like sticking your hand in fire, i hope the wounds have healed to a scar... they'll never disappear, but scars aren't necessarily ugly... they're just the roots to what grows inside.

From your words I feel there's an old oak in you. beaten and weathered by elements.. by the look no one knows how it still stands.. but it does.. and because of that there is strength and wisdom to be admired.

Very rough life. Never experienced it myself and I hope I never do. A rough write for you.

Divorce is just a devastating event, affects everyone involved, and the pain continues for years.

Whoa! Powerful and alarming. Women seldom come out on top in relationships (no pun). As A man, I am often ashamed of my kind. 'Too much anger, frustration with things and the world. Who to blame, not those who can strike back or make things worse. Lets try the little lady. She's good for a laugh or two, and she's part of my problem too, what's with this commitment stuff anyway.' Bravo on the bravery.

So very sorry. Been there, done that, but thankfully I wasn't married to the s.o.b. and he never harmed
my child. It was a horrible situation that took some drastic measures to get away. I wish this kind of
thing on no woman or child. I'm glad you got the divorce; for you and yours. I hope, I HOPE, that's the end
of it! Sometimes it's not. Be SAFE!!!!
