Pendulum

To care or not to care? That is the question.

It's easier to not care
Rather than drain my energy
And waste my time
On matters trivial in the long run.

I seem to be at the end of my tether,
The rope at the end seems enticing.

I try to seem as human and caring as possible,
But even as the facade slips,
I feel like encouraging my domineering side
Even when I know the consequence.

But even when I give a damn
I know I care, to a certain extent,
So it is with this I go forward,
Not backward,
And for that, I need to give myself a big push.

It's been a really long time since I wrote a poem. However when I recently entered a poetry competition and came second, I realized what was missing. So here is my latest masterpiece (that is completely different to the competition's poem).
