AND YET IN SPITE OF EVERYTHING

AND YET IN SPITE OF EVERYTHING

A Poem by Baby Ricochet
"

Just rambling

"

For all the sorrows that I felt
From words I couldn't find
For all the terror I endured
When horror gripped my mind

For all the cards that I was dealt
    Deuces jokers aces
 for all the foggy memories
 from all the distant faces

For all the tears of heartache
 from all my broken dreams
For everything I had and lost
  from what I can't redeem

For those I'll never see again
  For people left behind
 For everybody who gambled
  on my tricky fickle mind

For all the horrors that I saw
From someone's bad decision
For all the Marines we lost to
 unexpected  opposition

  For all the Horrific slaughter
    from collateral damage
   For all the mangled bodies
  held together by a bandage

  For all the stupid bullshit
  For all the outrageous lies
From every charismatic a*****e
  Who promised us blue skies

For all the crap that we endure
    From all that they employ
No matter what they pull on us
         Life is still a joy

The last two stanzas were really good.
The ending was with hope.
That's the good part of it.

Welcome Baby
A gem of the affirmation of life, Ric. Tis is your finest so far, for me, mate. The metre is well-nigh perfect and the format and content has a real tension and interest. Super. P.

I think unless one lives on the teetering edge of life like you do , it's really hard to appreciate life in the same way.I thin you expressed that so well in this poem, the rhyming is wonderful and flows naturally, par excellence we have come to expect from you.

I'm deeply impressed by this one. Those last two stanzas really got me, and the "happy ending," if I can call it that, makes the whole thing that much better. Great power and emotion behind this one, and a nice change of pace from your usual, somewhat angry or sarcastic writing. This was just honest, plan, and heartfelt, and I really liked it.

I see soldering has scarred you quite deeply . . . You seem to portray the concept "ignorance is bliss," though I doubt you mean it literally. Probably acknowledging, with a shift of conversation. You've seen death, I'm sure of it; and you seem bent on enjoying whatever moments you can these days. I scarcely have a clue if I'm getting my real thoughts out (I doubt it), so I shall leave it here. Well done.

I was hardly expecting that Baby, you've shocked me....pleasantly of course. Love that hit of optimism as a finisher...feel a bit high right now. Kudos on making the most of it....
