Saving Grace

Saving Grace

A Poem by Denise
"

first poem back after 2 year hiatus. obviously dedicated to my beautiful child born 4 months ago

"
I come back from a deep sleep
I come back not with words to weep.

I smile wide in the eyes of innocence
I smile with pride and not with ambivalence.

Staring back at me this child of mine
With character and personality yet to be defined.

Hardships and tribulations I have faced
But you my dear, you are my saving grace.

I tend to your needs and see to your whims
I rock you softly, on the sweet gentle notes of a hymn.

Skin so soft like the petals of a flower
You my dear, you are my love, my joy, my power.

Today there is joy, tomorrow is unforeseen and the past is in its place
But you will always be there my dear, as you are my saving grace.

A beautiful piece to honor a beautiful child. There's nothing in t he world that can make you feel better than when they smile at you like that. We are supposed to pave the way and teach them but sometimes I think we learn so much more from them. You hit the mark on this one - they do save us and lead us down a much more peaceful, joyful and meaningful path in life!
