Missing Persons

Missing Persons

A Poem by Jessica Elaine Stevens [Faiteach]

I don't know where I am.
I should be right here,
but hours have gone by to days
and still I have not called.
I have considered calling the police
to organize a search party
to find my missing self
but the line is static
and I have no voice.
I will wait another hour
at this place where I am
supposed to be-
the more I wait
the more I worry-
Something terrible has happened to me.

What I have come to like in the short time I have read your work is your more subtle cleverness. you achieve a great deal with clean and simple images. The undercurrent here is frantic and raw. I like how your perspective almost splits in two so one can see the fear of the journey and concern of the speaker shows juxtaposed.

I suggest you to read a poem-book by one of India's greatest modern poets -
Adil Jussawala. The book is called "the Missing Person".

You will love it. It'll blow you away!

PS> about you - you're nice and frank, hard hitting and sensible. A rather smart poet.
