The world from plane at night

The world from plane at night

A Poem by Shannon Devine
"

I wrote this poem once on a flight to Pheonix from Salt Lake City. I've edited it a bit since

"
There it is
A sea of darkness
Fragments of light here and there

Clouds like dark horses
Charging and rolling away
Some celestial spell upon them

Here I am an island
It doesn't matter that people are beside me
I am alone in my head

Is this what astronauts feel like
Nothing but stars above
Nothing but stars below

People say darkness is sad
People say darkness is evil
People say the darkness scares them

But for me, the darkness is more
But for me, the darkness is home
For me, the darkness is beautiful
