countless blessings

countless blessings

A Poem by Darcy
"

This is a poem dedicated to my grandfather, who passed just last week. Love you and miss you grandad.

"

May the road rise to meet you:

may it cling gently to your weary feet,

clasp onto your shuffling heels,

and giggle wildly across the floor.

May the wind be always at your back:

may it hold your hand

as the tide comes in,

and whisper stories in wisps of wiry grass.

May the sun shine warm upon your face:

may it kiss every towering sunflower,

soften every sheet on the line,

and put a ruddy pink into your freckled cheeks.

May the rain fall soft upon your fields:

may it tap the window pane in time

with tea kettles singing songs of laughter,

and let our tears be lost among it.

and until we meet again,

may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

and until then,

may I trace your love in mine.

[inspired by an Irish blessing]
