Gentle Rain

Gentle Rain

A Poem by diamonddave75

consumed by growing fear

the absence of light

removed from situations

that only complicate me

introverted and in denial

the cost outweighs the sum

splintered words so shallow

leave me feeling incomplete

lashing out in anger

the eyes of a stranger

bury myself in pain

longing for the gentle rain

ignored by doubtful people

so hollow and numb

compelled in a lucid trance

that will consume me

obligated and on trial

the guilt outranks the truth

sheltered dreams so lost

show me impending doom

lashing out in anger

the eyes of a stranger

bury myself in pain

longing for the gentle rain

enraged by fragile thinking

the ability to deny

scattered brain intrusions

that compromise me

contempt with revile

hatred overtakes the rest

calibrated inside the machine

spilling out my existence

lashing out in anger

the eyes of a stranger

bury myself in pain

longing for the gentle rain
