The lonely girl

A girl who felt like she didn't belong in the world.

Nobody knew what she was going through

Things would’ve been different if they knew

She cried herself to sleep every night

Her parents tried to help but she put up a fight

In the day she pretended to be happy

She fooled everybody

Her smile hid her secrets

She refused to show her weakness

Every class she sat on her own

The teachers thought she liked to be alone

One night her parents weren’t home

She went into the bathroom all alone

She had a kitchen knife

And took her own life

I understand suicide seems to be a pitiful thing by others, Crystal - but you must experience depression on your own, where it is not just nibbling but biting at your very person. And whatever good feelings you had, trickle right out of your eyes and ears.

It is the loneliness, the confusion, the sadness, the misery - all these things contribute to self-destructive behavior. It is up to us, the friends of these people, to be more than just casual acquaintances, to let these people into our lives - that they may share their pain with you.

And to be healed in the sharing.

Very dark.. I can see where your coming from. This is such a big subject now days. More and more people getting depressed. It's sad. Life is full of meaning and hope. There might be moments when life isn't so good but no one should feel like this. It's not a very good feeling at all. This poem is well written and it touches the soul.
