I Can't Tell You Why (with justrose)

i just keep hearing that

smooth and even beat

that seems to go on

with pace assured

like love's supposed to be

yet there are those nights
when hearts contract
a little more,
when uncertainty

and pride
pry open a door

and in the long run

this attrition of the heart

is my greatest fear,

though i'm sometimes

quite indifferent

from year to year...

...in the dark, though
i can't walk away.
steady strings and flow
bring the end
of words
and love we know.

Rose and I really did pay respect to this song. I am proud of what we wrote!

This is such a powerful poem about love. To me, I felt you conveyed the process of growing out of love. Sometimes we grow apart from others, and our love grows differently.

"is my greatest fear,
though i'm sometimes
quite indifferent
from year to year..."

I can relate to these lines so much, I find I grow out of people so easily, and I'm forever changing.
Great job :)

the first two lines seem to be a sad memory.
one that you'll always remember.

The last stanza is very sad. It talks about walking away from it all. That always makes me sad for I did that once and never got my true love back. We are friend and even more than friends but not together. This poem pulls at my heartstrings and makes them almost break. The ending of a love is so sad especially when it has been a long one. This poem flows very well and it almost made me cry with the emotion poured into it. Another amazing write by the two of you
