A Summer Nap

A Summer Nap

A Poem by Audrey Howitt
"

The name says it--the prompt was "summer"

"

Indolent season of tremulous haze,

Redolent with the syrup of lazy breeze,

Rich with the charm of industrious bees.

You hearken to the weary call

To rest in the reaches

Of your most generous spirit.

Under the green drape of walnut and plum,

Cotton meets the dampness of neck and hair,

As eyes heavy with the potential for dreams

Snake over words unspent.

Eyes flutter.

Book tilts.

Leaves dance.

A sigh escapes.

As time

Stills itself.

There is an indolent season of tremulous haze as eyes grow heavy with the potential for dreams. Under the green drape of walnut and plum......time stills itself.........so lovely!
