Downward Spiral

Downward Spiral

A Poem by MerylDivya

It begins my downward spiral
suffocated, seeming viral
Confusion settles quickly when
I try to separate now from then

Is it too bold to use the word hate?
When contemplating my imagined fate
Sins, lies and so much strife
painful anxiety cuts like a knife

I try to regroup and gain new perspective
one day at a time is how I can live
When I look in the mirror wondering if I am chiral
I surface again from my downward spiral

You give a lot of insight into how it feels to be lost in a false reality, or trapped in an "imaginary world". There's a strong theme of fear and chaos in this poem, yet also a strong theme of hope - hope for returning to a world of reality.

This is a concept I've tried to write about, but found it is very difficult to put into words; yet you unpacked it so beautifully and with so few words. Great write!

Creative writing and art are my pastimes. I'd love to put together a book but I enjoy poetry more than novel writing and there is not a current market for poetry books. Too bad and so sad. I have a de.. more..
