Foot in Mouth

Foot in Mouth

A Poem by Dug
"

Sometimes my verbal filter doesn't work

"

I spend all my time
Trying to hit rewind
And take it back

But it just won't work
And I feel like such a jerk
For how I made you feel

And the only thing
I want for Christmas
Is a spoken word eraser

For now all I have
is some duct tape
but that will have to do the trick
at keeping me shut up

-

And I think of ways to say I'm sorry
Excuses aren't the thing you need
All I know is that I miss you
But it's part of having foot in mouth disease

-

After all these years
you'd think I'd learn restraint
and keep my words in check
wouldn't have to take it back

But my stupid pride
brings out my bad side
and it makes it past the filter

-

I hate making promises I can't keep
I hate it more when they're believed
We both know that we'll be here again
It's part of having foot in mouth disease

About
A lot of what's on here are song lyrics (plus a few random short stories when my imagination wanders). I write music, but I've been trying to focus on the lyrical side of things. Words and music when.. more..
