Technology Gap

Technology Gap

A Poem by Debbie Barry
"

A 21st Century nursery rhyme, in the style of 18th Century rhymes, about a technology generation gap.

"

My grandmother has learned how to text!

Clickety-tap, clickety-tap!

What in the world will happen next?

Tappety-tap, tappety-tap,

Tappety, tappety, tappety tap,

Clickety-tap, hit Send!

My grandpa sent a Smiling Poo!

Clickety-tap, clickety-tap!

Now what am I supposed to do?

Tappety-tap, tappety-tap,

Tappety, tappety, tappety tap,

Clickety-tap, the end!

One of my favorite things in writing is when an author makes up words to convey different sounds! It's so important to include all the senses when we write & you've done that so well here! Love it! You CAN teach an old dog new tricks! I'm living proof! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

LOL My mother-in-law has caught on with her phone pretty well. She keeps it in her purse, and gene.. read more
The stereotype is that we "elders" know so much less - but don't always bet on that.

I regret that I had to censor myself in order to get this to post. The original, which contained no offensive language, only nonsense sounds to represent clicking on a cell phone's keyboard, was:

My grandmother has learned how to text!
Clickety-blip, clickety-blip!
What in the world will happen next?
Clickety-beep, clickety-beep,
Beepity, beepity, beepity beep,
Clickety-beep, hit Send!

My grandpa sent a Smiling Poo!
Clickety-blip, clickety-blip!
Now what am I supposed to do?
Clickety-beep, clickety-beep,
Beepity, beepity, beepity beep,
Clickety-beep, the end!

I much prefer this original to the edited version posted.
