You Know, Bliss

You Know, Bliss

A Poem by Deirdre
"

"

“Let’s run away,”

Her lover said, nibbling on her ear.
It was only a whisper, but it felt like a scream

“Let’s see the world together, get lost in the beauty
Of everything we’ve never seen.”

Her lover’s eyes lit up like a child’s
Does when it sees something
Beautiful, like a butterfly.

That’s how they held each other.
Like butterflies.
They didn’t want to crush
The other’s wings
And in the same moment
Crush each other’s dreams.

She looked into her lover’s eyes.
She loved the way they shined,
Like stars.
She touched her long black hair.
Like a raven.
That was her lover,
A bird of flight.
Her lover flew high above crowds
Waiting on something beautiful to find her.

“Come away with me,
We can leave all of this behind.
Let’s go to that place that’s halfway
Between Euphoria and Ecstasy.
You know,
Bliss.
We can live our lives in each other’s arms.”

She smiled and bit her lower lip
She pulled her love closer and whispered

“I’m already there, lovely.
I am already there.
Everywhere you are is perfection.
Your every touch brings me to absolute
Madness.
You are everything
I could’ve ever dreamed of
And more.
I need nothing more than
What I’m holding here.”

Her lover’s eyes were scared
As she heard these words,
But her joy creeped across her face
And her eyes began to shine again.

They fell asleep tangled in each other’s love.

Sweet dreams of love keep us hopeful and content. A beautiful poem. Best hope of Lovers is to escape to discover is what is beyond the next turn. A outstanding poem. Ending was perfect.

"They fell asleep tangled in each other's love." What a beautiful line and a great way to end the poem. I enjoyed it and look forward to reading more.
