The Broken Heart

The Broken Heart

A Poem by Donald
"

This poem deals with the effects of a broken heart.

"

Torn and shattered into a million pieces,

the broken heart lays before.

Unloved and unwanted,

it still continues to beat tirelessly,

wondering if it will ever be whole again.

Slowly and surely it begins to mend with a small spark of life returning.

Gradually over time,

it is mended,

but the scars are still there,

visible to be seen and felt by those around it.

Unsure what to do, it resumes its search for another to love,

but cautiously,

it moves forward,

unsure what to expect,

it continues in its  quest for another chance to love again.

Love does not come as easily as it did before,

guarding against disappointment.

Choices once taken are passed over to prevent further chance of heartbreak to a damaged heart.

But yet another sees these scars and approaches to help it overcome its fear of love and closeness.

With guidance and care,

the scars gradually disappear and the chance of love is once again possible.

Now it has more confidence and more experience to judge when it is safe to love and when it is not.

Soon loves comes to this lonely heart..

It now beats stronger and is ready to accept the risk for a chance at happiness and contentment.

Deep within this heart lingers a small spark of doubt.

Until this spark is gone,

total happiness eludes it.

But stills,

it moves forward and comes back into the light.

Then a miracle happens,

The spark is gone,

never to be seen again and true love finds its way back into this lonely heart.
