The World's View Vs. Hers (Mine)

The World's View Vs. Hers (Mine)

A Poem by Danielle Landry

  Mine

The World’s View Vs. Hers

When people look at me,

They see a happy teenage girl.

One who has no drama,

No problems,

No pain,

No insecurities-

But they’re wrong.

If you look deep into my eyes,

You’ll see everything I’ve seen.

If you look past the clothes,

You’ll see my broken heart,

My bruised ribs,

My spiritless soul.

If you listen beyond my words,

You’ll see the hidden messages,

You’ll hear the little girl in me

Crying,

Screaming,

Pleading,

Begging for help,

Begging for a hero to save her

From her pain-

To save her from herself.

Except,

No one ever came.

Her story didn’t get a happy ending-

MY story didn’t get a happy ending.
