Not Good Enough

Inspired by my work at a middle school. Short, free verse.

“Just say no!”

Isn’t good enough.

“Because I said so!”

Isn’t good enough.

“That’s just how it is!”

Isn’t good enough.

“Just ignore it!”

Isn’t good enough.

"You're too young!"

Isn't good enough.

"You wouldn't understand!"

Isn't good enough.

"Don't worry about it!"

Isn't good enough.

Our kids deserve better than this.

They deserve reasoning and truth.

Excuses aren’t good enough anymore.

Children deserve full explanations if they are to learn and grow. Just hearing the negative all the time without some useful, constructive advice will not enable them to flourish as they should. It's all about balance. Enjoyed the read. Thank you

How very true that excuses are not enough.Being parents of 4 children,and married 49 years we know to offer reasons for all matters at hand . Important subject for all parents to be teachers of their children and make time for them. Good Poem
